At the concert on November 28th, Kári Sverrisson will perform as a vocalist, together with Norwegian saxophonist Tore Brunborg. Tore was part of Yggdrasil in the 1990s and participated in both recordings and concerts with the group. Kári has also joined concert tours in various places and appears, among other things, on the album Risastova.

Kristian Blak is the pianist, founder, and main composer of the group. He has written several large-scale works in suite form for Yggdrasil, most of which have been released on the Tutl label.

Yggdrasil is a Nordic ensemble based in the Faroe Islands. It was founded in 1981 and has almost always included musicians from other countries. From the very beginning, Yggdrasil has had a unique artistic concept. Most compositions are created in collaboration with other art forms — and in some cases, with nature itself.

The musicians involved in the group — whether long-term members or participants in specific projects — come from a variety of musical backgrounds, especially jazz, but also ethnic, folk, rock, and classical music. While many of the works are inspired by or based on traditional material, improvisation — from free to classically influenced — is always a part of the performance.

Over the years, many musicians and artists have taken part in Yggdrasil’s projects, which have spanned visual art, poetry, ballet, opera, and even concerts in caves. Essential to the Yggdrasil concept is that the personality of each member is heard or seen — something that makes Yggdrasil’s sound truly unique.

Sissal has long been part of the Faroese music scene under the name Jóhanna Niclasen, but she truly broke through when she won the Danish Melodi Grand Prix in March 2025. Her powerful voice, bold personality and unfiltered honesty quickly made her a fan favourite.

In November 2024 she released her debut EP “Hear Me Now”, but it was the song “Hallucination” that opened doors she once thought impossible.

Since then, she has released “I’m not crying, I’m dancing”, a Danish single inspired by her journey on Vild Med Dans - a track about finding strength, freedom and release through movement.

Her concert will be a personal journey, personal stories, dreams and the courage to step beyond you comfort zone. Audiences can expect both familiar songs and brand-new material, delivered in a soundscape that mixes organic instruments with electronic elements.

Joined by some of the Faroese music scene’s strongest musicians, Sissal creates an intense, heartfelt and uplifting live experience - one that brings her audience close.
